STREET ART PROJECTS

BACKGROUND

SPACER paintings started some years ago with a few paintings I was playing with. I had just spent years teaching myself oils and painting urban landscapes and wanted to try something else. My first astronaut painting was named Minus One and its started me on a course for playing with paint, stencils and street art.

A few years later SPACER paintings have been commissioned by the European Space Agency working with offices in both Holland (ESTAC) and The UK (ESA Climate Office). SPACER art work prints were also the first Street Art prints to be signed in weightless on a Zero Gravity with the ESA and NOVE Space in March 2019 after winning the Gravity Without Gravity Street Art Competition with The Hague Street Art in 2018.

When I started painting astronauts it was for fun and originally the oils were developed using a narrative of ‘That Space in Between’, which was about choice in that moment just after you leave but before you get somewhere. In a way its kind of fitting because I never knew where these paintings would take me and its turned out to be quite the journey. For now I’ll keep painting SPACERS and after After working with the ESA I’m keen to learn and explore more. Sure, who knows maybe I’ll make it to NASA or Space X one of these days.
